The Association of Women in the Metal Industries was created to grow women in this industry by offering a platform to run an organization very much as a business would run. Often when we are talking to men about joining or participating, they are surprised. However, a large percentage of our members and participants are men, because they too support the women in this industry and also receive great benefits from being a member. The metal industries are predominantly male, and the nature of the business shows it can be challenging to enter into as a woman, regardless of the position. The AWMI and specifically the St. Louis Chapter, offer events throughout the year to promote and support the advancement of women in the metal industries.
