AWMI ANNOUNCES 2022
MEMBER OF THE YEAR
LAUREN POLK

The Association of Women in the Metal Industries (AWMI) is pleased to announce Lauren Polk as 2022 Member of the Year.

Polk has been a member of AWMI for seven years. In that time, she has held the Toronto Chapter positions of Newsletter Chair, Programs Chair, President, and is currently serving as Past President.

Polk has more than ten years of experience in metal industries. She started her career in metals through an internship placement at Environment Canada’s CCIW machine shop. She then spent eight years in various roles including Quality Manager and Welding Supervisor at North Star Technical Inc. In 2021 Lauren joined Max Aicher (North America) Ltd. as Operations coordinator and moved to her current role as Maintenance coordinator in 2022. MANA is a supplier of hot rolled steel bar products to the North American marketplace. They roll rebar, smooth bar and coil for products.

“It’s a great honor to be nominated for this award,” Polk stated. “AWMI is truly something special, I continue to be amazed by the generosity of AWMI leaders volunteering their time and sharing knowledge to help others grow in the industry. I’m grateful to MANA for being supportive of my involvement with AWMI, as it has played a huge part in my professional growth.”

Polk will receive her award at AWMI’s Annual Conference at the Don CeSar in St. Pete’s Beach, Florida, which is held November 8-10, 2023. For more information, please visit www.awmi.org.
