AWMI Quad Cities presents AWMI 101 with Amanda Ryan from Quality Metals Inc and JP from O’Brien Steel Corporate Member Highlight

AWMI Quad Cities is excited to kick off 2026 with an exciting membership drive event!
Thursday January 15th, 2026
We will begin the evening with Amanda Ryan presenting AWMI 101.
Amanda Ryan will begin the evening with AWMI 101 Amanda is AWMI’s International Vice President with over 15 years of experience in the metals industry. She currently serves as the Business Development Manager for Quality Metals, bringing a strong background in sales for both Midwest service centers and mills. She is a proud Purdue boilermaker. Previously, Amanda held key roles at Nucor, including ERP Project Lead and District Sales Manager for the Midsouth region. An active member of AWMI since 2011, Amanda has served in various leadership positions across the Chicago and Wisconsin Chapters, including Volunteer Coordinator, Membership Co-Chair, Programs Coordinator, Secretary, and Vice Chair for both the Midwest and Southern Regions. Most recently, she was our Midwest Regional Director for 5 years. She has also contributed to several international board committees, including Mentorship, Conference, Chapter Expansion, and Programs & Governance (P&G). While she is not traveling for work, AWMI, and fun she is chasing around her toddler son enjoying all that mom life has to bring!
J.P. O’Brien will present O’Brien Steel company highlights for the second part of the evening. J.P. O’Brien is the President of O’Brien Steel Service Co., a privately held steel service center and processor based in Peoria, Illinois. Founded in 1975 by his parents, Joe and Marge O’Brien, the company has grown into a trusted name in the industry. J.P. was employee number three and has dedicated nearly five decades to leading and shaping the business.
Membership is open to anyone working in metal industries—fabricators, distributors, freight, industry media, finance, and consultants. If someone isn’t sure they’re eligible, invite them or have them reach out!
Please bring a guest who has shown interest in joining AWMI. This event is the perfect place to get questions answered, learn about AWMI, and explore opportunities for networking, meeting new people, and professional growth.
