Chris graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering in 1986, with a class of 30 metallurgists, including 4 women. She also earned a Master of Administrative Science from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1991.
Chris began her career in the Met Department at the Armco Stainless Bar, Rod and Wire plant in Baltimore. Chris joined the Quality department of Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point in 1989, working in almost every part of the carbon flat roll steel mill: Steelmaking, Hot and Cold Mills; Coating lines; Tech Service and Quality Management. After nearly 21 years at Sparrows Point – through Bethelehem Steel’s bankruptcy in 2003, the subsequent purchases by ISG, Arcelor Mittal, and Severstal, Chris had the opportunity to try her hand at Sales, as ThyssenKrupp Steel USA started up their brand new steel mill in Calvert, Alabama. It was a great time to combine her technical background with the Commercial side of the business.
TKS eventually sold the plant to ArcelorMittal USA, where she was promoted to Director of the non-Automotive Customer Service teams in 2016, adding the Automotive customer service team in 2017. With the purchase of AMUSA by Cleveland Cliffs, Chris now leads the entire Carbon customer service team for Cleveland Cliffs, including Automotive, Flat Roll carbon steel, Plate and Tinplate products.
Chris has been a member of AWMI since 2010 and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
