Jackie has a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. She began her career as a co-op student for LTV Steel’s Indiana Harbor Works in 1991 and was hired full time by LTV upon graduation in 1994. Through the co-op and training programs, Jackie received comprehensive training in Quality Control departments throughout the mill before being assigned as the Tin Mill Metallurgist in 1995.
In 1997, Jackie became LTV’s youngest Metallurgical Service Engineer and went on the road to work directly with customers. After working with non-automotive and then automotive customers, Jackie was promoted to Technical Sales and remained in that position with LTV until they closed their doors in 2001. After LTV closed, Jackie worked as a Supplier Quality Engineer for General Motors and learned not only to appreciate the demands placed on suppliers but also to better understand the implications of not fulfilling a customer’s expectations.
In 2007, with a fresh perspective on supplier quality, Jackie joined Nucor Steel as a Technical Service Metallurgist / Sales Engineer, the position she currently holds. Shortly after joining Nucor Steel, Jackie joined the AWMI and has been active in both the Detroit and Columbus chapters.
Jackie currently lives in the Greater Detroit area with her husband and four children.
