What are the benefits of AWMI membership?

Membership is reserved for women and men who are career-oriented and seek opportunities for professional growth and achievement. Membership Structure

An AWMI member belongs to a local chapter, which combined with the other Chapters forms the International organization. For those women and men not located close to an existing chapter, an International membership is available. Chapters are also part of a regional organization that offers meetings, tours and conferences.

Regular Membership

Regular Membership is granted to women employed in positions in the metal industries by a mill, manufacturer, fabricator, distributor, or by a freight company, industry related media, engineering firm, or consultants whose business is associated with or related to the use of metals, who share the goals of the Association.

Sustaining Membership

Sustaining Membership is granted to a person involved in the metal industries who is interested in the advancement of AWMI, and have all the privileges of regular membership, including voting, with the exception of serving in the capacity of an officer (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary or Past President) or serving, in any capacity on the Regional Council or International Board of Directors.

Retiree Membership

Retiree Membership is granted to women and men who have been retired from their professional positions and have been a member for a minimum of three years, are not employed in a full-time position, who have achieved the age of 50, or who have received work retirement, and the membership rate is 50% of that of Regular Membership.

Sustaining Student Membership

Sustaining Student Membership is available to students who are not already employed in the industry and are pursuing a full-time education (proof of status required with application) with the intent of being involved in the metal industries. Sustaining Student Members shall pay annual dues at a rate of twenty-five percent (25%) of the amount established by the International Board for Regular and Sustaining Members and shall have the privileges of voting and participation on committees. Membership Year - January 1st - December 31st
New memberships that come in prior to October 1st, are for the current membership year. New memberships that come in after October 1st, are for the next membership year.

Corporate Memberships

Corporate Membership In 2005, AWMI was pleased to introduce Corporate Membership. Based upon feedback from our larger member companies, AWMI developed a value-added program for companies interested in corporate-wide support and greater visibility in the Association. Based on the level selected, our Corporate Member companies can receive many benefits including:
